A little something for our American readers today. I came across yet another type of paid survey the other day, online jury service, and was disappointed that this is not something that we can take part in, in the UK.
How does it work? In a nutshell, attorneys present highlights of their case to a set of mock jurors, who deliberate until they reach a mock verdict.
Working from home and online as an e-juror can earn you anywhere from $10 to $100+ per case, depending on the length of the case and trial.
Mock jurors offer valuable feedback and attorneys often use this preliminary information when deciding whether or not to accept a case and/or are looking to research a case before heading into a real a courtroom.
There are many sites that offer this as a way to make money online and I’ve listed a few below that have had good reviews. I often feel, although paid surveys are a good way to earn money on the internet, that I am getting bored of the same questions over and over again. Online Jury Service provides more
Get to review summaries of legal cases and give feedback about their cases. Payout is usually about $10.00 per case.
For each verdict, eJurors are paid $5 – $10 depending on the length of the case. The amount to be paid will be shown at the top of each case.
You will review interesting legal cases from the comfort of your home and provide feedback through an online questionnaire. $20 to $60 per case.
You will then provide feedback to law firms by answering questions about your response to a certain case. In most cases, they will pay you $30. For more complex cases, maybe more.
Earn $10 per hour as a mock juror.
Review each site’s requirements to make sure that you meet the necessary criteria to qualify. Most sites have some basic requirements, much like a “real” juror, such as:
- You cannot be a lawyer or an insurance company representative.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be a United States citizen.
- No felony convictions.
Complete and submit applications to ALL sites that you qualify for. This increases your chances of being selected as some sites will be more active than others.
As and when you are selected for online jury duty, read and review all instructions, guidelines and requirements provided. By doing a good job, you’ll increase your chances of being selected to serve again.
