This is some great news about a ticket I raised when I took out a life assurance policy with Direct Line through Greasy Palm. Although the amount tracked ok, the cash was not paid into my Greasy Palm account as I had requested. However, Greasy Palm have now paid be the missing £42.50 and I’ll be getting it next month! Here’s a run down on what happened.
My original transaction was in March 2007. I got a standard automated reply:
Message: Hi Daniel,
I will look into this for you.
I then addded a reply in April 2007 and got this message:
We have now contacted the retailer and asked them to investigate your missing cashback for this transaction.
Please allow up to 60 days for a manual credit to be added to your account, we are reliant on the retailers responding to our requests and some take longer than others to process our queries!
As soon as the retailer confirms that cashback is due we credit the funds to your account.

In June 2007, with no reply, I added my own reply to remind them of this. This is what I got in return:
All I can do is this: I have to put a lot of work in to try and get you your money. This is what I will do, IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m going to give the retailer 90 days to pay it they do not pay up in 90 days I will give you the money. That’s a promise. Please allow 90 days for the transaction to hit your account. I promise you it will be there within 90 days. Please do not reply to this ticket as it will just make you wait extra time as it’s will go by the ticket reply date time.
After the 90 days, still no payment. Therefore I added another reply to the ticket. And I got this wonderful response in Feb 2008:
I am pleased to tell you that I have now added Ã‚Â£42.50 cashback to your account for Direct Line Life Insurance.
So a little persistance, and Greasy Palm where true to their word. Thanks guys!
