Avoid Online Paid Survey Scams

by Dan on April 22, 2010

The promise of completing paid surveys for money can be quite seductive.  While there are numerous legitimate options out there that can help you add to your income by a substantial amount, there are also online scams that can ruin your experience.  How do you earn money from home with paid surveys, but avoid those scams at the same time?  While completing paid surveys is one of the top make money ideas for anyone, there are a few steps you should follow to ensure that you are not taken for a ride.

You should understand that avoiding these scams is simpler than you might think, so long as you take a bit of time to research each potential survey provider before you sign up with them.  With a very small investment of time and a modicum of effort, you can avoid falling victim to fraudulent offers.

Too Good to Be True

While it is certainly true that you can earn money from home with paid online surveys in the UK, you should beware of companies that make claims that seem too good to be true.  For instance, if a company claims that you can quit your regular job just by completing a few surveys each week, this claim is obviously untrue.  Another example can be promise incredible amounts of money for the completion of a single survey.  If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.  You should approach companies making such claims with a very skeptical eye.

Do Your Research

Part of being able to earn money from home with a legitimate survey company in the UK is to ensure that you do your due diligence.  It is your responsibility to research any company that you might choose to sign up with.  Researching such a company should not be time intensive, or difficult.  Simply type the company’s name into Google, Yahoo! or your preferred search engine and see what happens.  Finding real reviews and feedback from other survey takers is the most important thing, as this will give you a feel of what it will be like to work with the company.  Of course, take these reviews with a grain of salt, as it’s quite possible that you will encounter paid promotion, as well as disgruntled survey takers who simply didn’t want to make an effort to succeed.

Check the Payment Info

Another area of primary importance to you is to check how a paid survey UK company actually pays out.  Many of these companies have a payout threshold – an amount that you must earn before they issue you a check.  However, some have high thresholds, while others have low thresholds.  In addition, some companies do not pay out in cash at all, offering prizes and free products instead.  Of course, with a bit of time and research, you can find a good survey company that offers a solid pay structure to help ensure you are able to earn as much supplemental income as possible.
